Job Title

A visionary leader is sought to spearhead the delivery of regulatory compliance and community safety initiatives in a local government setting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, overseeing the implementation of Council's Safe City Strategy, and managing multidisciplinary teams across various departments.

They will also foster a customer-focused culture, champion innovation and digital transformation, and build strong partnerships with stakeholders to address shared community safety challenges.

  • Provide strategic, values-driven leadership in regulatory compliance and community safety
  • Lead the implementation of Council's Safe City Strategy, aligned with the Community Strategic Plan and IP&R framework
  • Manage and lead multidisciplinary teams across environmental health, building compliance, parking enforcement, and ranger operations
  • Foster a customer-focused culture that ensures respectful and timely service delivery
  • Champion innovation and digital transformation, including mobile inspections, data analytics, and automation
  • Build strong partnerships with NSW Police, EPA, Health, and neighbouring councils to address shared community safety challenges
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health, Planning, Building Surveying, Law, Regulatory Services, or a related field, along with significant experience in leading regulatory or enforcement teams.

They will also have expertise in risk-based compliance, strategic planning, and operational excellence, as well as exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and advocacy skills.

Additionally, they should be able to lead change, build high-performing teams, and drive continuous improvement.
