About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists at Uniting AgeWell Strathdon to provide spiritual and pastoral care to residents and their loved ones. Our Spirituality Framework serves as the foundation for understanding spirituality, placing it on equal footing with physical, mental, and social needs. As an integral member of the interdisciplinary care team, you will contribute to the holistic care model at leadership levels within the Residential facility. As a UA Chaplain at Strathdon, you must possess a deep understanding of contemporary professional spiritual care and be capable of working autonomously as well as collaboratively within the chaplaincy team and wider multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized spiritual and emotional care to residents and their families
  • Conduct Spiritual Care Assessments/Reviews and maintain regular electronic documentation relating to spiritual and religious needs
  • Lead worship sessions
  • Establish connections with spiritual leaders from diverse faith backgrounds as required
  • Facilitate small group work
  • Offer guidance and education to staff regarding spiritual care practices
  • Participate in key site meetings: Welcoming, Quality, Palliative, and Comfort Care etc.
  • Engage actively in the Chaplaincy Network with other UA Chaplains in Victoria and Tasmania
About You

We seek compassionate and initiative-driven individuals genuinely interested in enhancing the lives and well-being of people as they age. Key qualities include:

  • The ability to identify, assess, and address the emotional, spiritual, and religious needs of residents in accordance with Australian Aged Care Quality Standards and the UA Spirituality Framework
  • Completion of minimum 1 unit of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) or equivalent experience in pastoral care
  • Desirable: formal theological qualifications
  • A commitment to working within and promoting the ethos and values of the Uniting Church
  • The capacity to work respectfully and constructively as part of both chaplaincy and multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A current Working with Children Check card
  • Current and ongoing flu vaccinations
  • Australian working rights
  • Ability to pass a national police clearance
