MacKillop Family Services is seeking a passionate and dedicated Team Leader to lead our newly funded Education Support for Children in Care (ESCC) program. This program aims to support some of the most vulnerable children and young people in our community by delivering tailored education programs designed to enhance their learning experiences and outcomes.

**About The Role**:
This position is.9 FTE fixed term position until 01 March 2026

As the Team Leader, you will oversee a team of 5 qualified teachers, driving the delivery of high-quality education support services to children and young people in care. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the ESCC program, working closely with schools, care teams, and other stakeholders to create positive and engaging learning environments.

Our programs ensure that learning is a positive experience that offers not only academic success but also nurtures the young people’s social and emotional wellbeing. We do this by adopting a holistic, trauma-informed model of practice that promotes safety, positive relationships, and creates a supportive learning environment.

We are proud to say that during 2023, our Education Programs supported over 700 students across Victoria to remain engaged or to re-engage with learning.

This position will receive support from the Education and Engagement Program Director, who will provide guidance and assistance as needed. In addition to your supervisor’s support, you'll benefit from the broader MacKillop team, which fosters a collaborative environment to share expertise and ensure you have the resources you need to thrive.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead and supervise a team of 5 teachers, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of individualised education support plans for children and young people in care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including case managers and mental health professionals, to address students' educational and emotional needs.
- Ensure program compliance with Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) requirements and maintain strong working relationships with external partners.
- Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, ensuring continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery.
- Contribute to reporting and data management, ensuring accurate tracking of student progress and program effectiveness.

**Key Selection Criteria**
- Relevant tertiary Qualification, with higher studies in education preferred.
- High-level interpersonal skills, with a capacity to develop positive relationships with young people, carers, colleagues and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in improving educational outcomes for children and young people at risk.
- Demonstrated ability and extensive experience in providing high quality educational experiences to young people with complex needs, including those who have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect.
