This role involves connecting with First Nations children and their families to determine the best support for their improved independence, social participation, and quality of life.
- The coordinator will work closely with local communities to build networks and pathways that promote inclusion opportunities for First Nations children with disabilities and their families.
- Engage with First Nations people to understand their needs and provide support to First Nations families.
- Provide knowledge of developmental milestones for children aged 0-9 years and connect with local First Nations communities.
- Develop a strong understanding of typical childhood development and the impact of disability and developmental delay on a First Nations child and their family.
- Build working relationships with local community and mainstream services to promote a culturally safe work environment.
- Apply knowledge of the Child Protection Legislation and the principles of Keep Them Safe.
- Tertiary qualifications in Early Childhood or Allied Health profession.
- A reference from an Aboriginal Organisation, Corporation or Community Elders Group.
- Confirmation of Aboriginality with common seal.
- Current Driver's Licence - P1 minimum.
- Valid Working with Children's Check Clearance – mandatory.
- Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDIS WC) or willingness to obtain – mandatory.
- Working Rights in Australia for Full-Time Employment.
- Successful pre-employment probity check.
