This is a culturally significant position, classified under 'special measures' of the Equal Opportunity Act. The role is exclusively open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The successful candidate will strategically lead a community-based approach to self-determination and reconciliation in Wyndham.

The role provides support across the organisation to implement and embed Council's Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). As the First Nations Lead, you will strategically coordinate and embed a whole of council and community approach to reconciliation and self-determination in Wyndham, supporting a shared vision, understanding and ownership of actions.
- Embed Council's RAP, ensuring a whole of council and community approach to its implementation
- Provide proactive coaching and support to others to realise opportunities and navigate challenges in their efforts to advance self-determination and reconciliation in Wyndham
- Coordinate support and advice to the Wyndham Reconciliation Advisory Committee and its working groups responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the RAP
