Research Position in Metallomics and Chemical Biology

The School of Chemistry at the University of Sydney is seeking a researcher with expertise in metallomics and chemical biology. The successful candidate will have a PhD in organic chemistry, chemical biology, protein engineering or a closely related discipline.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting advanced research studies in metallomics, focusing on the preparation of responsive fluorescent sensors for application in biological studies.
  • Developing and publishing original research papers and assisting with grant writing.
  • Supporting teaching activities and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students.

We are looking for a researcher who has experience in the synthesis, purification and characterization of organic molecules, as well as in the use of research methodologies relevant to metallomics.

Required qualifications and skills include:

  • A PhD (or near completion) in organic chemistry, chemical biology, protein engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience in the synthesis, purification and characterization of organic molecules.
  • Experience in the use of research methodologies relevant to metallomics.
  • Knowledge of fluorescence proteins and their applications in biological studies would be highly regarded.

This project involves collaboration with researchers from different disciplines across four countries.
