Position Overview

As a Design Manager, you will report directly to the Design Director and collaborate closely with the Rail Delivery Manager. Your role will be pivotal within the Design Management team, where you will oversee the development, assessment, and modification of a comprehensive and cost-efficient design for the assigned rail works, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and budgetary constraints.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the review, optimization, and modification of rail-related Design Packages in collaboration with Design Consultants.
  • Manage all pertinent design interfaces to ensure seamless integration.
  • Organize and facilitate Design Coordination Meetings to promote effective communication.
  • Ensure that safety, constructability, and budget considerations are integral to the design process while advocating for enhancements.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of design documentation to maintain high standards.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for project-related Scheduled Corridor Access System (SCAS) closures.
  • Manage correspondence and communication related to Rail Construction Phase Services (CPS) and Requests for Information (RFI).


Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Construction or a related field.
  • Proven experience in rail design and design management within large infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Queensland Rail requirements and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply contracts and project scope effectively.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Capability to work independently while overseeing the completion of rail design delivery and Construction Phase Services.
