About This Role

The City of Canada Bay is a thriving, colourful community surrounded by the beautiful bays of Sydney Harbour. The area is also known for its parklands, cycle paths and walkways.

As a key member of the People and Culture team, you will work closely with a supportive, energetic and passionate group of professionals. Your primary focus will be on collaborating with various teams within the Community, Culture and Leisure directorate, including Library and Community Services, Recreation Management, Venue Management and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic advice and support to management and staff on operational People and Culture matters, including recruitment, interpretation and implementation of policies, procedures, awards and contracts.
  • Support People and Culture functions with the execution of generalist activities, ensuring seamless integration with other departments.
  • Coordinate the performance review process for the organisation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and development.
  • Raise requisitions and purchase orders in accordance with established practices, maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely approvals.
  • Participate in wider People and Culture projects, taking responsibility and accountability for assigned tasks and delivering high-quality results.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related field, with demonstrated industry experience and a proven track record of success.
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to management on complex disciplinary and industrial relations matters, promoting effective resolution and minimizing risk.
  • Strong interpretive and implementational skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
  • An understanding of Local Government employment legislation, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical context.
  • Excellent consultation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with executives and stakeholders at all levels.
