Professor / Associate Professor, Mechanical Circulatory Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Professor / Associate Professor, Mechanical Circulatory Support to join our team at the Queensland University of Technology.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the development of the Mini Pump device, a miniature blood pump designed to support patients with severe heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFp EF).
- Lead the mechanical and electrical engineering development work, including design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing of the Mini Pump.
- Collaborate with other researchers to implement physiological control systems, remote monitoring, wearables, and digital apps, as well as pre-clinical evaluation, including simulations, benchtop experiments, and animal studies.
- Develop optimised hydraulic systems for the blood pump to meet a range of physiological conditions.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, assisting with their professional development and overseeing the budget for some projects.
- Postgraduate qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or a similar field.
- Extensive experience leading the development and commercialization of rotary blood pumps.
- Proven skills in mechanical circulatory support design, prototyping, and testing, with experience in taking early feasibility MCS prototypes to manufacture.
- Proven experience of at least 10 years working in a regulated environment, with knowledge of GLP and GMP regulations, practices, and methodologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
- Proven leadership experience, including management of multidisciplinary teams and large-scale research and development projects and budgets.
