We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Professor/Professor to lead our research team in Mechanical Circulatory Support. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and a proven track record of leading research projects in this field.
About the RoleThe Associate Professor/Professor will be responsible for leading the development of a miniaturized blood pump, including mechanical, electrical, design, control, and pre-clinical evaluation components. They will also be responsible for establishing new and strengthening existing partnerships with external partners, including clinicians, scientists, engineers, and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the research efforts in the development of a miniaturized blood pump, including mechanical, electrical, design, control, and pre-clinical evaluation components.
- Establish new and strengthen existing partnerships with external partners, including clinicians, scientists, engineers, and industry partners.
- Provide regular reports to the Program Directors and funding organization, including performance against project KPIs and milestones.
- Lead the product development through the pre-clinical testing pathway using appropriate simulation, benchtop, and in-vivo models.
- Contribute to commercialization activities, including developing and maintaining an evidence-based understanding of market needs and competitors.
- Completion of a doctoral qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or a similar field.
- Extensive experience leading the development and commercialization of rotary blood pumps.
- Demonstrated excellence in leading mechanical circulatory support (MCS) design, prototyping, and testing.
- Proven experience of at least 10 years working in a regulated environment and conversant with GLP and GMP regulations, practices, and methodologies.
We offer a competitive remuneration package, including an annual salary range of AUD $162,466 to $178,999 pa, 17% superannuation, and leave loading. We also offer a range of benefits, including a healthy work-life balance, fitness passport, and discounted rates on private health insurance.
