We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Professor/Professor to lead our Mechanical Circulatory Support program at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of a miniaturized blood pump, known as the MiniPump, and contributing to the commercialization of this technology.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Research Efforts: Develop and implement research strategies to advance the design, prototyping, and testing of the MiniPump, ensuring timely completion of milestones and achievement of project goals.
- Product Development: Oversee the product development process, including pre-clinical testing, using simulation, benchtop, and in-vivo models to ensure the MiniPump meets regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including clinicians, scientists, engineers, and industry partners, to accelerate the development of the MiniPump and drive innovation.
- Reporting and Communication: Provide regular reports to program directors and funding organizations, highlighting progress against project KPIs and milestones.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of researchers and engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the successful completion of projects and achievement of team goals.
- Commercialization: Contribute to the commercialization of the MiniPump, including market analysis, competitor research, and development of business cases to attract funding and investment.
- Knowledge Sharing: Publish research findings in reputable scientific and clinical journals, present at national and international conferences, and contribute to the development of industry standards and guidelines.
- Doctoral Qualification: Hold a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with extensive experience in leading the development and commercialization of rotary blood pumps.
- Leadership Experience: Demonstrate proven leadership experience, including management of multidisciplinary teams, large-scale research projects, and budgets, with a track record of achieving goals and delivering results.
- Industry Knowledge: Possess in-depth knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices for medical device development, including GLP and GMP regulations.
- Communication Skills: Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage audiences at all levels, pitch ideas, and present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Team Management: Show a proven ability to manage and lead teams, including mentoring, coaching, and developing staff to achieve their full potential.
