Purchasing Officer Job Description

Job Title: Acquisition Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process purchase requisitions into Purchase Orders from the SAP Buyer Queue in line with established Service Level Agreements.
  • Evaluate and recommend vendors to ensure value for money, compliance with company policies, and fairness in business practices.
  • Research, negotiate, renew, cancel, or initiate competitive bids for materials, parts, equipment, and services utilised by the organisation.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Source new and improved materials, tools, parts, and services to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Investigate and recommend alternate sources of supply to increase options and competitiveness.
  • Run weekly Overdue PO report and follow up on status.
  • Consult with internal departments on changing product and service needs to ensure alignment and satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the procurement cycle and ability to manage it effectively.
  • Experience in using SAP ERP system to process transactions and reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with stakeholders and vendors.

Desirable Skills:

  • Procurement experience and knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications, drawings, and Bill of Materials to make informed decisions.
