Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service operates Rockhampton Hospital, the largest medical facility in the Central Queensland region. Our hospital serves as the primary referral center, dedicated to fulfilling the objectives outlined in our strategic vision for healthcare in the area. We are committed to providing expert medical care locally by enhancing a variety of specialized services available at Rockhampton Hospital.

Rockhampton Hospital features four operating theatres and two procedure rooms, supported by a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High Dependency Unit (HDU). Our department is recognized for its specialist training programs and actively participates in both teaching and research initiatives.

Role Overview:

This is an exceptional opportunity to advance the established Urology Services within Central Queensland. Over the past five years, we have collaborated with the Princess Alexandra Hospital to deliver these services. Our future ambitions include the establishment of an independent Urology unit. The selected Surgeons will collaborate with a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) to help realize this vision.

Candidate Profile:
  1. A medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Urology with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), typically requiring Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Urology.
  3. Active enrollment in a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program with relevant professional bodies.
Compensation Package:

Staff Specialists:

Total remuneration package of up to $528,432 per annum (L27), which includes:

  1. Base salary ranging from $210,332 to $266,677 per annum (L18 - L27)
  2. Employer superannuation contribution of 12.75%
  3. Leave loading of 17.5%

Visiting Specialists:

  1. Hourly salary rates starting at $283.79 (VS.04 – VSS.01)
  2. Fuel allowance for VMOs
  3. Professional Development Allowance (minimum engagement of 12 hours per fortnight required for eligibility)
