Central Queensland Hospital is the premier healthcare facility in the region, serving as the primary referral center. Our mission aligns with the Destination 2030: Great Care for Central Queenslanders strategy, focusing on delivering exceptional care locally by enhancing a variety of specialized services.

The hospital features four operating theatres and two procedure rooms, complemented by a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit/High Dependency Unit. Our department is recognized for its commitment to specialist training and actively participates in both teaching and research initiatives.

Role Overview:

This is a remarkable opportunity to advance the established Urology Services within Central Queensland. Over the past five years, we have collaborated with the Princess Alexandra Hospital to provide these services. Future developments include the establishment of an independent Urological unit. The selected Surgeons will collaborate with a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) to help realize this ambitious vision.

Candidate Profile:
  1. A medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) that qualifies for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Urology with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), typically requiring Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Urology.
  3. Commitment to ongoing Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs with relevant professional bodies.
Compensation Package:

Staff Specialists:

Total remuneration package of up to $528,432 per annum (L27), including:

  1. Base salary ranging from $210,332 to $266,677 per annum (L18 - L27)
  2. 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  3. 17.5% leave loading

Visiting Specialists:

  1. Hourly rates starting at $283.79 (VS.04 – VSS.01)
  2. VMO Fuel Allowance
  3. Professional Development Allowance (minimum appointment of 12 hours per fortnight required for eligibility)
Vaccination Requirements:

It is mandatory for employees in this role to be vaccinated against vaccine-preventable diseases as specified in the Role Description.
