About Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service:

Rockhampton Hospital stands as the largest medical facility in Central Queensland, serving as the primary referral center for the region. Our hospital is pivotal in fulfilling the goals outlined in our Destination 2030: Great Care for Central Queenslanders strategy. We are dedicated to providing expert medical care close to home by enhancing a variety of specialist services available at Rockhampton Hospital for all residents of Central Queensland.

The hospital features four operating theatres and two procedure rooms, complemented by a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit/High Dependency Unit. Our Department is recognized for its commitment to specialist training and actively participates in teaching and research initiatives.

Role Overview:

This is an exceptional opportunity to advance the well-established Urology Services in Central Queensland. Over the past five years, a Service Level Agreement with the Princess Alexandra Hospital within Metro South has facilitated this service. Our future vision includes the establishment of an independent Urological unit. The selected Surgeons will collaborate with a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) to help realize this ambition.

Candidate Profile:
  1. A medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Current registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Urology with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), typically requiring Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Urology.
  3. Commitment to ongoing Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs with relevant organizations.
Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Information for Staff Specialists:

Total remuneration package of up to $528,432 per annum (L27), which includes:

  1. Base salary ranging from $210,332 to $266,677 per annum (L18 - L27)
  2. 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  3. 17.5% leave loading
Additional Benefits:
  1. Professional Development Leave - 3.6 weeks annually.
  2. Professional Development Allowance - $21,500 per annum.
  3. Motor Vehicle Allowance.
  4. Overtime and on-call allowances.
  5. Attraction and Retention Incentive Allowance (Applicable for Private Practice arrangements).
Visiting Specialists:
  1. Hourly salary rates between $283.79 (VS.04 – VSS.01).
  2. VMO Fuel Allowance.
  3. Professional Development Allowance (Eligibility requires a minimum appointment of 12 hours per fortnight).
Vaccination Requirements:
