Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Team Leader to manage the Core Rodent Breeding Facility at the University of Adelaide.

About the Role

The Team Leader, Core Rodent Breeding Facility, will be responsible for leading a small team in delivering technical support and ensuring breeding colony management adheres to ethically approved projects. This includes setting up and coordinating rederivation of rodent lines into the breeding facility, including IVF procedures and cryopreservation where appropriate.

You will oversee the day-to-day operation of the Core Rodent Breeding Facility, establishing facilities and services, and undertaking compliance activities such as audits, inspections, quality assurance programs, and coordinating facility and equipment maintenance with contractors.

This role requires someone with both technical and leadership experience, who can work effectively with researchers and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaising with research groups to deliver outstanding technical support
  • Ensuring breeding colony management adheres to ethically approved projects
  • Setting up and coordinating rederivation of rodent lines into the breeding facility
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Core Rodent Breeding Facility
  • Undertaking compliance activities
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant experience working in a biomedical research environment
  • Significant experience in rederivation of rodent lines using IVF procedures and cryopreservation
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a small team
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of compliance and quality issues impacting on a biomedical research environment
  • Proven interpersonal and liaison skills
  • Experience in HS&W compliance and compliance systems
