We are seeking an experienced Senior Animal Technician to join our team in the Division of Research and Innovation, where they will play a critical role in delivering research support through best practice animal care.

This full-time position offers a rewarding career environment with opportunities for growth and development. As a Senior Animal Technician, you will work closely with our team leader and colleagues to promote animal welfare and deliver high-quality services.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in biomedical research animal husbandry, a strong commitment to animal care, and excellent technical skills. A degree in Animal Technology or equivalent qualification is highly desirable, but not essential. We are looking for someone who is passionate about their work, enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge, and committed to excellence.

About the Role:

  • Support the team leader and colleagues in delivering research support through best practice animal care
  • Act as a mentor and guide less experienced Animal Technicians
  • Promote animal welfare and adhere to the Australian Code of Practice for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes
  • Manage rodent breeding colonies and provide technical skills training to staff and researchers
