Job Description

**Job Title:** Financial Controller

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our team at Darwin Waterfront Corporation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the accounting, financial reporting, and funds management functions of the corporation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage budgets and financial statements for the corporation.
  • Ensure compliance with all taxation, insurance, audit, and financial reporting obligations.
  • Manage grants funding and ensure appropriate levels of funding to cover various aspects of operations.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable matters.
  • Oversee the coordination of external audits and assist with compliance audits.
  • Manage capital expenditure, capital works, minor new works, and repairs and maintenance budgets.
  • Develop and maintain effective governance and reporting systems.
  • Prepare regular reports and briefings to the Chief Executive Officers, Boards, Sub-Committees, and other government and non-government entities.
  • Report on the financial aspects of concession arrangements, commercial and operational contracts, and leases.

Requirements:

  • Comprehensive technical knowledge and extensive experience in applying Australian Accounting Standards, GST, and FBT taxation legislation.
  • Extensive knowledge and relevant experience in budget formulation and monitoring.
  • Experience with auditors, report generation techniques, and methods of analysis and interpretation.
  • Well-developed analytical, interpretative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cohesively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bachelor of Accounting (or similar) and accreditation with a professional accounting body.
