Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Technician

Location: Salisbury, QLD

Full-Time: Immediate start available.

Reports to: Manager.

  1. Design & Drafting Support:
  • Prepare detailed technical drawings, plans and 3D models for mechanical systems ensuring alignment with engineering specifications and client requirements.
  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical equipment plant layouts and hydraulic power systems using CAD and industry-standard software.
Fabrication & Installation:
  • Assemble install and modify mechanical components machine tools and control systems focusing on steel fabrication and structural integrity.
  • Select and procure appropriate tools materials and equipment ensuring cost-efficiency and adherence to project timelines.
Testing & Quality Assurance:
  • Conduct field and laboratory tests to evaluate system performance collecting and analysing data to optimise mechanical functionality.
  • Supervise inspections and maintenance of machinery and plant equipment ensuring compliance with safety regulations and engineering standards.
Project Coordination & Compliance:
  • Estimate material costs quantities and machine requirements to support project budgeting and resource planning.
  • Verify that all designs and completed works meet contractual obligations industry regulations and quality benchmarks.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  1. Qualifications: Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field.
  2. Experience: 1+ years in a mechanical engineering technician role preferably within steel fabrication industrial plant or heavy machinery sectors.
  3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD SolidWorks) hydraulic/pneumatic systems and mechanical troubleshooting.
  4. Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret technical drawings perform calculations and generate reports.
  5. Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers fabricators and project managers.
