Job Title: Classroom Support

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant. The role of the Learning Support Assistant is to provide support for students with disabilities in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with disabilities in classroom activities to help them achieve educational goals under the supervision of teachers.
  • Provide support for students' health and wellbeing, including personal care and creating a safe, supportive environment.
  • Perform additional duties in specialised or discrete classes, tailored to meet specific needs in these settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt materials and strategies, contributing to individualised learning plans and maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere.
  • Observe and report on student progress and concerns to support effective educational strategies.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated understanding and personal dedication to Catholic education and the Church's mission through Catholic schools.
  • Hands-on experience supporting students with disabilities from Kindergarten through to Year 12.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with teachers, school staff, CSO staff, and external partners.
  • Experienced in administering assessments and delivering targeted interventions under a teacher's guidance.
  • Skilled in implementing necessary adjustments for both individual students and groups to enhance learning.
  • Well-versed in relevant Disability legislation and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.

Qualifications:

  • Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number.
  • Completed anaphylaxis training.
  • Certificate III or IV in School-Based Education Support (desirable) or equivalent experience.
