Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Operating Officer to lead our business on a continuous improvement journey. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of engineering and manufacturing, with a proven track record of scaling up and down organizations to bridge the gap between technical and executive levels.

About the Role

This is a newly created position reporting directly to the Managing Director, responsible for managing all operational aspects of the business. The role is based at our Head Office in Bassendean, Perth, with requirements for interstate and international travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Managing Director to transition responsibilities for all aspects of business operations to the new role
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to maximize production, quality, and corporate business development plans
  • Provide strong and stable leadership and direction across all Operations
  • Develop and drive long-term business plans to meet company-wide strategic objectives
  • Drive high-priority business improvement projects across the business
  • Drive change management and ensure the business aligns across all Operations
  • Maintain oversight of organizational policies and procedures

About You

You will be an experienced strategic leader with a technical and commercial mindset, able to develop a long-term strategic plan for our operations. Your 'can-do' attitude, ability to 'get things done,' high energy level, and motivation set you apart from your peers.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years proven experience in a Senior Executive position
  • Competency with a range of performance-enhancing methodologies to improve business results in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience from a significant tenure in the engineering, manufacturing industry
  • Successful management of a large business over multiple locations
  • Results-driven, collaborative style of leadership
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Desired Skills

  • Proficiency in Spanish
  • Black-belt 6 Sigma/Lean certification
  • Familiarity with 5-axis CNC machining, Cam programming, Metallurgy, Fabrication, Gearing, Design
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Infor), Production and scheduling, Paperless workshop processes
  • Understanding of Siemens 840d controllers
  • Post-graduate qualifications in engineering (Mechanical/Materials) or a related discipline
  • Current driver's license
