Claims Examiner Role Overview

This position involves managing a portfolio of claims, assessing coverage, reserving, and adjusting claims in accordance with company service level and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of claims for Accident & Health and/or Combined Insurance claims as allocated.
  • Assess claims in accordance with established service level and quality requirements.
  • Communicate by telephone and written correspondence to stakeholders as required.
  • Participate in Claim Department and company-wide training as needed.
  • Respond to enquiries and escalations of matters from underwriters, brokers, and customers, and collaborate with internal departments as necessary.
  • Review income replacement claims for payment of periodic benefits at key points in the claim cycle and develop strategies for successful return to work of the claimant where possible.
  • Participate in claims meetings with internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Manage Emergency Assistance cases end to end as allocated.
  • Facilitate payment of claims costs and service provider fees, including reconciliation and liaison with overseas providers and service providers.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to service providers as necessary on claims within delegated authority limits.
  • Monitor performance and processes of service providers to make recommendations for process improvement and contract compliance, escalating breaches to Claims Management.
