Procurement Specialist for Defence Contracts

Babcock International Group, a leading global defence technology business, is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team in Australia. As a key member of our Defence contracts division, you will play a critical role in procuring goods and services for the Australian Defence Force Ground Support Equipment contract (ADFGSE).
We have established a strategic partnership with the Australian Defence Force for the efficient asset management of the common GSE fleet.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and issuing purchase orders through Babcock's ERP system;
- Ensuring timely delivery of orders from suppliers and monitoring their performance against contractual obligations;
- Implementing effective processes to manage supplier and inventory-related activities, aiming to minimise risks in quality, on-time delivery, and cost;
- Reviewing and updating processes to enhance the efficiency of inventory and purchasing operations.
In this role, you will work closely with our clients to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet their requirements. You will also contribute to the development of continuous improvement strategies to enhance our operational efficiency.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Tertiary qualifications in Supply Chain and/or Logistics;
- Strong computer literacy and experience working with MS Office software (Word, Excel, etc) and ERP systems;
- Negotiation and influencing skills to achieve desired business outcomes;
- Experience with MILIS in Defence Inventory Management, Governance, and Stocktaking;
- Australian citizenship and a current Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain).
Babcock offers a competitive salary package estimated at AU$95,000 - AU$110,000 per annum, depending on experience. We also offer flexible working arrangements, a supportive work environment, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
