Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Pathologist to join our team at Healthscope. As a Speech Pathologist in our ICU, you will be responsible for providing high-quality speech and language therapy services to patients in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and manage patients with dysphagia, including those with head and neck cancer and tracheostomy patients
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve patients' communication and swallowing abilities
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients and their families
  • Participate in case conferences and progress meetings to ensure effective communication and coordination of care
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives within the Allied Health Department
  • Discharge patients to external services as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Speech Pathology degree (or equivalent qualification)
  • Previous clinical experience in adult Speech Pathology in an acute hospital setting
  • Eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures
  • FIM accreditation
