About the Role

We're seeking a skilled Python Infrastructure Specialist to join our Language Ecosystem team at Canva. As a key member of this team, you'll be responsible for driving the development and maintenance of our Python infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with our AI/ML stack.

Job Description

As a Python Infrastructure Specialist, you'll lead collaborations with engineers across the organization to design and implement platform infrastructure solutions that prioritize Python capabilities. You'll work closely with Developer Platform product managers and leadership to define strategic priorities and roadmaps for ML and Python-related initiatives within the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive innovation in Python and ML engineering practices and development experience
  • Lead solution design meetings and participate in hiring interviews and code reviews
  • Mentor and guide other engineers in their professional growth and development
  • Engage with engineers across Developer Platform by seconding into teams and collaborating on high-impact projects to uplift Python and ML expertise
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in software development with a focus on Python
  • Strong understanding of modern development tools such as Bazel or Nix
  • Familiarity with containerization, Terraform, and GitOps principles for automation and deployment
  • Experience with ML frameworks such as pandas, NumPy, PyTorch, Ray, and TensorRT
  • Proven track record of leading and executing large-scale engineering projects
