Job Responsibilities

A Cook plays a crucial role in supporting the culinary team with food preparation, cooking, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen. This position serves as an excellent entry point for individuals aspiring to build a career or advance in the culinary field.

Key Duties:

Ingredient Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients, which includes chopping, slicing, dicing, and measuring. This may involve tasks in both cold and hot kitchen environments.

Cooking Techniques: Implement basic cooking methods and techniques under the supervision of senior chefs. This can encompass grilling, frying, baking, sautéing, and more.

Recipe Adherence: Follow established recipes and guidelines for the preparation and presentation of dishes.

Plating Assistance: Help in the assembly and presentation of dishes, ensuring they adhere to established standards for portion sizes and aesthetics.

Hygiene and Cleanliness: Uphold a clean and organized workspace. This includes proper ingredient storage, cleaning utensils, and adhering to hygiene and sanitation protocols.

Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring ingredient inventory levels and reporting shortages to the kitchen supervisor or chef.

Continuous Learning: Actively seek to enhance culinary skills by learning from senior chefs, participating in training sessions, and practicing cooking techniques.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to kitchen safety regulations and guidelines, including the safe operation of kitchen equipment and handling of hot items.

The Cook position is an excellent starting point for those aiming to develop a career in the culinary arts, providing essential knowledge and skills for future advancement.

Qualifications
Preferred experience in culinary education or relevant cooking experience. Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Physical stamina and capability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Must possess full working rights within Australia. Ability to pass a federal police background security check.
