Training and Development Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Training and Development Specialist to join our team. As a Trainer, you will play a critical role in supporting our frontline staff through structured training and on-site coaching.

The purpose of this role is to provide quality vocational education competency-based training and assessment utilising technical/operational expertise for both SWC and non-corporation employees and contractors.

About the Role

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality training and assessment services that reflect a sound understanding of competency based training and adult learning principles.
  • Contributing to valid training data by ensuring accurate attendance records and assessment results are collected and entered in the LMS for all conducted courses and assessments.
  • Assisting with the validation and development of training programs.
  • Using innovative approaches in delivering training.
  • Providing quality feedback advice and support to our workers and managers on issues related to program implementation.
  • Maintaining sound relationships with stakeholders to ensure the existence of open consultative frameworks to support training improvement.
  • Assisting in capturing organisational knowledge drain from 'experts' to ensure that it is retained and included in relevant training and development programs.
  • Working in conjunction with all areas of Customer Experience to ensure needs are met with the best possible outcomes.
  • Ensuring new team members are effectively onboarded, and that they complete all mandatory training.
  • Coaching/mentoring field teams to enable business change.
  • Delivering high-quality environmental outcomes that improve stakeholder satisfaction with Sydney Water relationships.
  • Providing technical support to area team members when required.
  • Working with the Innovations team to develop instruction and training in new equipment and technology.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of safe work practices to ensure the safety of self and area teams.
  • Designing, organising and delivering training materials as required.
  • Developing assessment procedures and tools.
  • Maintaining assessments as part of SW skills development program.
  • Assisting in monitoring the performance of training packages through evaluation programs and moderation and taking appropriate action where necessary.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate IV Assessment and Workplace Training
  • Certificate III in Water Industry, or demonstrated equivalent skills
  • WHS Qualifications - WHS Construction Induction 'White card' as a minimum
  • Driver's Licence
  • Excellent knowledge or experience in an operational/technical training area.
  • Sound knowledge of WHS responsibilities and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in competency-based training assessment.
  • Excellent knowledge or experience in delivering off and on the job training and assessment.
  • Sound knowledge of a range of delivery strategies including e-leaning and coaching
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in fostering and maintaining internal and external relationships.
  • Previous experience in development and evaluation of courseware.
  • Ability to motivate, lead and inspire a team to work towards the accomplishment of organisational goals.
  • Exceptional skills in influencing others
