Urban Planning Trainee Role

We offer a two-year fixed-term urban planning trainee program designed to launch a career in statutory planning, development assessment, and customer service.

  • Deliver expert advice through Council's Duty Planner and pre-lodgement services
  • Support assessing development proposals and related applications
  • Provide assistance via counter, phone, and email
  • Ensure applications meet legislative requirements
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, memorandums, and correspondence on development matters
  • Undertake site inspections and coordinate feedback from internal and external stakeholders
  • Meet Council deadlines and statutory timeframes
Essential Requirements
  • Enrolment in a tertiary course leading to a qualification in town planning or a related discipline
  • A strong interest in development assessment and statutory planning
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A basic understanding of relevant planning legislation and regulations
  • A commitment to continuous learning and a proactive work ethic
  • A Class C Driver's Licence
