About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Trainee Town Planner. This is a two-year fixed-term position that offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in statutory planning, development assessment, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide planning and development advice to customers through our Duty Planner and pre-lodgement services
  • Assist with assessing development proposals and related applications, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements
  • Support customers via counter, phone, and email, providing exceptional customer service
  • Prepare reports, memorandums, and correspondence on development matters
  • Conduct site inspections and coordinate feedback from internal and external stakeholders
  • Meet deadlines and statutory timeframes, prioritizing tasks effectively
Requirements
  • Enrolment in a tertiary course leading to a qualification in town planning or a related discipline
  • Strong interest in development assessment and statutory planning, with a commitment to continuous learning
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team
  • Basic understanding of relevant planning legislation and regulations
  • Commitment to a proactive work ethic, with a focus on delivering high-quality results
