Key Finance Leadership Role

This is a high-level finance position responsible for managing all financial aspects of construction operations within the commercial construction business segment.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for reviewing and developing internal controls/processes around job estimating, work-in-progress, cost management, and progress claims. You will also assist operational teams with tender submission requirements and provide analysis support to project managers in regards to job variances and future improvements.

Budgeting and Forecasting Responsibilities
  • Preparation of annual three-way budgets (P&L, Cashflow & Balance Sheet)
  • Management of ongoing three-way forecasts to update monthly business units/segment rolling annual and long-term forecasts
Treasury and Working Capital Management Duties
  • Preparation of weekly cash forecasts (8 weeks)
  • Analysis and explanation of any variations to forecast working capital requirements
  • Approval of weekly AP payments ensuring key suppliers are being paid within payment terms
Month-End Processes
  • Accounting control over cut-off deadlines and integrity review of data uploaded into group reporting tool
  • Responsibility for general ledgers of all commercial construction entities
  • Ownership of processing timeliness/accuracy of AP/AR transactions
  • Review and analysis of monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow movements against budget and reforecasts
  • Preparation and presentation of financial information to senior management as part of monthly management meetings
  • Assistance with tax queries from tax manager to help facilitate group bi-annual tax effect accounting schedules
  • Review of monthly GST reporting to ensure accurate inclusion in the monthly Group BAS return
  • Assistance with any audit queries as a result of the annual audit and half-yearly review in respect of commercial construction operations
  • Assistance with attaining relevant construction certifications as required
