Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team on a permanent full-time basis.

The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years' experience in commissioning and/or maintenance of mechanical systems, with strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Test & Commissioning Lead Technicians to execute the T&C program, ensuring all work meets WHS legislation and BAE Systems SHE policies.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically sharp and capable individual to contribute to the Hunter Class Frigate Program.

The job involves conducting STW, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of Hull & Deck and/or Power & Propulsion systems.

The selected candidate will also be responsible for training and qualifying as an Authorised Individual to operate and maintain HCF systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct STW, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of Hull & Deck and/or Power & Propulsion systems.
  • Train and qualify as an Authorised Individual to operate and maintain HCF systems.
  • Plan, check, and carry out mechanical isolations of ship equipment and systems.
  • Complete test, maintenance, and STW documentation using relevant digital tools.
  • Work closely with the T&C Lead Technicians to execute the T&C program.
  • Share your technical expertise, support training, drive best practices, and foster continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all work meets WHS legislation and BAE Systems SHE policies.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Support Systems teams to deliver safe, effective solutions.

Required qualifications include a minimum Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical, or an equivalent/higher industry-recognised mechanical qualification.
