We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Operations Manager to join our team. This full-time permanent position involves managing the end-to-end Payroll function, reporting directly to the Financial Operations Manager.

The successful candidate will oversee the function, leading a team of 5 payroll specialists and demonstrating excellent leadership and people management skills.

Sutherland Shire Council is a council with a long-standing history and a diverse workforce. Experience working in a large and complex environment will be highly desirable for this role.

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire end-to-end Payroll function to produce a fortnightly payroll service to the organisation.
  • Promote a culture of high performance, integrity and professionalism within your team.
  • Partner with key business stakeholders to continually transform the payroll function.
  • Project manage all payroll related projects including the coordination of payroll system enhancements, upgrades and testing.
  • Work closely with the Financial Operations Manager and the Financial Services Leadership Group, to meet the strategic objectives.

To be successful in this role, you will have a deep understanding of the complete payroll function and demonstrated experience in a senior payroll position.

You will have a customer-focused mindset and be a person people feel comfortable working with and learning from.
