We're seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to lead our estimating lifecycle for major tenders and infrastructure projects.


The Role
  • Develop and manage detailed estimates for major infrastructure tenders, incorporating labour, materials, and subcontractor inputs.
  • Oversight and maintenance of our estimating platform, including rate and supplier data.
  • Collaboration with project and business development teams during the bid phase to ensure alignment between cost structures and delivery models.
  • Establishment and management of supplier and subcontractor relationships to ensure consistent, competitive pricing.
  • Creation and maintenance of a historical database of estimation data to improve forecasting and accuracy.
  • Identification of opportunities for value engineering and commercial risk mitigation during the pre-contract phase.
  • Support for the continuous improvement of estimation tools, templates, and digital systems.
  • Mentorship and training of junior estimators, engineers, and project managers.
  • Participation in post-tender reviews and cost tracking to support ongoing refinement of estimating processes.
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field.
  • 7–10+ years' experience in electrical estimating, preferably within infrastructure, commercial, or industrial projects.
  • In-depth understanding of Australian electrical materials, labour markets, and subcontractor pricing models.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience in cost structures, contract conditions, and margin strategies.
  • Proficiency in estimation tools such as simPRO, CostX, Benchmar Estimating, or equivalent software.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and mentor teams in cost estimation and bid development.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in developing and improving digital estimation platforms and databases.
