About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at the University of Tasmania. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and expanding research group in the School of Natural Sciences, focusing on astrophysics research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct high-quality research in observational and computational astrophysics, with a focus on gravitational microlensing measurements in the Milky Way.
  • Develop and maintain productive links within the University and with the wider community.
  • Contribute to the supervision of research higher degree students.
  • Collaborate with international project partners on the NASA Roman Project Infrastructure Team.
  • Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
Requirements
  • PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Good record of, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved recognition and made worthwhile contributions to the field of astrophysics.
  • Experience in planning observational programs and the reduction and analysis of optical and/or near-infrared astronomical data.
  • Experience in the supervision of student research and in scientific computing.
  • Record of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry (where relevant) and wider community.
What We Offer

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B, with a total remuneration package of up to $150,759, comprising base salary within the range of $110,992 to $128,854 plus 17% superannuation.
