Position Overview
The MPOWIR initiative is dedicated to enhancing the retention of women in physical oceanography through mentorship and support. This role is pivotal in fostering scientific collaboration and ensuring the effective utilization of marine data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and implement strategic scientific planning, engaging with facility leaders and the research community to promote the integration of diverse data streams.
- Assume a leadership role in data synthesis to enhance the value of marine datasets.
- Maximize the impact of MPOWIR by assessing scientific performance, identifying collaborative opportunities, and leading funding initiatives.
- Act as a liaison between MPOWIR and various stakeholders to ensure effective project execution and data delivery.
- Represent MPOWIR at relevant conferences and workshops, engaging with researchers and key partners.
Candidate Profile:
To excel in this position, candidates should possess:
- A postgraduate degree in physical or biogeochemical oceanography, coupled with significant relevant experience (minimum of 5 years postdoctoral); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience in integrating various data streams and enhancing research data.
- In-depth knowledge of scientific observation techniques and the application of data to address critical research questions.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing and coordinating high-level scientific projects.
- Evidence of successful facilitation or leadership in multi-disciplinary scientific collaborations, including effective proposal development.
- A keen ability to identify scientific opportunities that enhance ocean observation and data utilization.
