About the Opportunity

CSIRO is seeking a highly skilled PhD researcher to join our team and contribute to the development of machine learning techniques for physical simulation of mining processes.

Project Overview

The successful candidate will work on a project that aims to enhance and accelerate physical simulations in mining operations using machine learning approaches. The project will focus on predicting the mixing and segregation of ore in mining operations, as well as blending different ores to minimize uncertainties and maximize throughput.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and apply machine learning techniques to physical simulations of mining processes
  • Collaborate with CSIRO researchers and industry partners to advance the project goals
  • Conduct research and analysis to optimize mining value chain using AI
  • Present research findings and results to stakeholders
Requirements
  • First or upper second-class honours or equivalent in a relevant research area
  • Admission to an Australian University as a PhD student
  • Hold an appropriate visa to study in Australia (if international)
  • Be no further than one year (FTE) into a PhD on commencing at CSIRO
  • Hold a primary scholarship, such as a Research Training Program (RTP) scholarship
  • Not be in receipt of any other Top-Up Scholarship
  • A university supervisor who is willing and able to supervise you
