About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Fellow in Astrophysics to join our dynamic team at the University of Tasmania. The successful candidate will have a strong background in observational and computational astrophysics, with a focus on gravitational microlensing measurements in the Milky Way.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct high-quality research in astrophysics, with a focus on gravitational microlensing measurements in the Milky Way.
  • Develop and maintain productive links within the University and with the wider community.
  • Contribute to the supervision of research higher degree students.
  • Collaborate with international partners on the NASA Roman Project Infrastructure Team.
  • Develop and implement research programs to study the occurrence, properties, and host star properties of exoplanets between the Sun and the Galactic Centre.
Requirements
  • PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Strong record of research in astrophysics, with a focus on gravitational microlensing measurements.
  • Experience in planning observational programs and the reduction and analysis of optical and/or near-infrared astronomical data.
  • Experience in the supervision of student research and in scientific computing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
