About the Position

Our organization requires an experienced SHEQ Manager to join its Leadership Team for a national business line. The facilities management solution enables clients across various sectors to focus on their core business while delivering service excellence.

The successful candidate will promote a positive and generative approach to health, safety, environment, and quality functions within the business. They will partner with contracts/projects to supply advice and ongoing support around compliance and operational excellence with the SHEQ discipline, including food safety matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing SHEQ Management Plans across the business line, delivering requirements of business improvements plans aligned with the overall SHEQ strategy.
  • Overseeing a significant portfolio with multiple contracts and risk profiles.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, and standards, and that all activities on projects are undertaken in a safe manner and within applicable frameworks and documentation.
  • Undertaking or leading investigations in relation to safety-related incidents.
  • Implementing processes to ensure communications and compliance with all SHEQ policies and procedures, fostering a culture of "safety and health above all else".
  • Overseeing employee rehabilitation, including Return to Work planning.
  • Managing COVID-19 communications and general risk management.
  • Ensuring risk assessments and registers are developed and maintained.
  • Embedding Critical Risk Protocols in projects through leaders.
  • Developing and reviewing document version control across the business line.
  • Utilizing project management tools to enable informed decisions on asset disposal, renewal, and planned maintenance programs.
  • Monitoring contract statistical data and reporting to senior leadership weekly, monthly, or at request.
  • Supporting internal and external audit schedules and reviews.
  • Providing advice and assistance to Site Managers to monitor the wellbeing of site personnel and promote Health Bodies and Healthy Minds programs.

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in a similar or managerial position.
  • Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety or similar.
  • Formal training in incident investigation (ICAM).
  • Management systems and Lead Auditor Qualifications.
  • Cert IV in Food Science or equivalent food safety knowledge.
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (optional).
  • Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements, and ISO standards within a utility or infrastructure project environment.
  • The ability to develop and execute strategies to ensure compliance and minimize risks while driving continuous improvement.
  • The capability to follow instructions, work within guidelines and procedures, identify problems, and seek advice to resolve issues relating to tasks.
  • Demonstrated understanding of contractual KPIs, commitment to HS&E through behaviors, visible and accountable leadership, and participation in monitoring established working practices.
  • Sound experience in conflict resolution.
