Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Care Unit as a Healthcare Team Leader. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall clinical management of the ward, supervising junior staff and assisting the Nursing Unit Manager as needed. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Nursing Unit Manager in collection of audits, statistics, staff performance management and productivity analysis data.
  • Monitoring staff levels against budget/target levels related to number of bed days, occupancy and patient acuity. Adjusting staffing levels in consultation with the Unit Manager and/or Coordinator according to changes in levels.
  • Assisting the Nursing Unit Manager in identifying resource needs and developing budgets and operational plans.
  • Discussing any concerns regarding patients and staff with Nursing Unit Manager/Coordinator grievances, difficulties etc.
  • Responsible for assisting the Nurse Unit Manager in following issues pertaining to human resources within the department and will assume full responsibility in the absence of the Nurse Unit Manager.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of/and functions in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice and acknowledges accountability/responsibility for own actions.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of acts and legislation that impact on the practice of nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and build effective nursing, medical and interdisciplinary relationships and teams.
  • Delegation, planning, organisational and motivational skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and self-directed learning.
  • Effective communication and education skills.
