Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain a robust legal risk management framework to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and mitigate potential risks.
- Provide timely and effective legal advice to our human resources, compliance, and financial crime prevention functions to support their performance.
- Control legal risk by providing guidance to our business units on dispute resolution, litigation management, and vendor contracts.
- Act as an independent guardian and trusted business partner, providing commercially sensitive and pragmatic legal support and advice to our organization.
- Stay up-to-date with material legal developments and provide guidance to our business units on relevant issues.
- Collaborate closely with our legal teams in Asia, Tokyo, and other regions to ensure consistency and best practices.
- Support group-wide projects and litigation matters, and liaise with external legal counsel as needed.
- Minimum 6-8 years of post-qualification work experience in a common law jurisdiction.
- Lawyer qualified in a common law jurisdiction, ideally Australian or New Zealand qualified, but candidates qualified in Singapore, US, UK, Hong Kong, Malaysia, or India will also be considered.
- Prior experience in regulatory compliance, HR, litigation, or legal risk management.
- Prior in-house legal experience in a financial institution would be an advantage.
- Broad experience across banking and lending, wholesale/investment banking products, and capital markets.
- Strong technical knowledge of legal frameworks surrounding finance transactions and strong document drafting skills.
- Good knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to finance and banking.
- Self-motivated and independent, with the ability to clearly challenge process and decisions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage large workloads and tight deadlines.
