Academic Leadership Position

The position of Director of Teaching and Learning is a high-profile role within our educational institution. It encompasses strategic leadership in curriculum development, assessment, professional growth, digital innovation, and teacher accreditation.

This individual will be responsible for shaping the academic vision and pedagogical excellence across all stages, from Kindergarten to Year 12. The Director will lead the College's teaching and learning strategy, ensuring a cohesive and future-focused learning culture aligned with the institution's values and strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: Lead the development and implementation of a whole-school teaching and learning strategy, aligned with the institution's mission and strategic plan.
  • Assessment and Accreditation: Chair the Data Team and use internal and external data to inform strategic direction, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement in student outcomes. Oversee the design, delivery, and evaluation of a rigorous, inclusive, and future-focused K–12 curriculum that meets relevant requirements.
  • Professional Growth and Digital Innovation: Collaborate with the College Leadership Team to set and monitor academic goals and priorities. Manage budgets related to teaching and learning, including professional development, curriculum resources, and digital innovation initiatives.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Cultivate partnerships with external organizations to enhance curriculum relevance and innovation. Mentor the Deans of Studies in their work with Heads of Department and Stage Leaders, fostering collaboration and consistency in curriculum delivery across K–12.
  • Digital Pedagogy and Information Services: Promote innovative approaches to digital pedagogy, including blended and online learning models. Collaborate with IT and Digital Learning teams to ensure staff are supported in the effective use of educational technologies.
  • Staff Development and Support: Provide targeted support for early career teachers as they work toward Proficient Teacher accreditation, including mentoring, induction programs, and guidance on portfolio development and reflective practice. Foster a culture of professional aspiration and excellence among staff.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate should possess postgraduate qualifications in education, leadership, or a related field. Relevant experience with school improvement planning and educational innovation is essential. Familiarity with digital learning platforms, library systems, and emerging technologies in education is highly desirable.
