Role Summary:

The Training Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless operations of the Central Specimen Reception unit. This role requires exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills, with a focus on developing and maintaining interdepartmental relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing a broad range of pre-analytical procedures consistently and accurately, including clinical trials.
  • Maintaining current competencies in line with role requirements and staying up-to-date with the latest laboratory techniques.
  • Developing and maintaining interdepartmental relationships to promote a holistic ethos for excellence in pathology service delivery.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in pre-analytical processes such as sorting, coding, data entry, aliquoting, parcel management, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to solve problems and show initiative in the workplace.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders and provide high-level customer service.
  • High-level leadership skills and demonstrated willingness to succeed and supervise cohesively with team members.
  • A sound understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Certificate III Pathology is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Ability to gain Certificate IV Laboratory Techniques and successful completion of Train the Trainer is desirable.
  • Current Dangerous Goods Certification or the ability to acquire it is required.
