The South Australian immunoGENomics Cancer Institute (SAiGENCI) is establishing a Data Science Unit to accelerate discoveries in cancer research through data analysis and modelling. Working closely with researchers and fostering connections to cooperative research centres, national and international networks, this is an opportunity to shape the direction of data science initiatives at SAiGENCI.
Key Responsibilities:- Leverage advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to drive insights and inform decision-making in cancer research.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective data-driven solutions for complex problems.
- Foster a culture of innovation and excellence within the Data Science Unit, promoting the application of cutting-edge methodologies and tools.
- Mentor and supervise junior researchers, providing guidance on best practices and emerging trends in biostatistics and data science.
You will be part of a vibrant academic community at the University of Adelaide, with access to state-of-the-art resources and a supportive environment that encourages collaboration and growth.
Requirements:
- PhD in Biostatistics or an equivalent field, with a strong understanding of bioinformatics and associated biology.
- Demonstrated expertise in standard clinical biostatistics, multi-omics data integration, and proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., R, Python).
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with wet-lab researchers, clinicians, and computational scientists.
