The ACT Parks and Conservation Service requires an experienced and skilled "Ranger In Charge" to coordinate the delivery of land and reserve management programs across the ACT's protected areas. Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of operational, work, and project plans, ensuring timely and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of Rangers, Technical Officers, and Field Staff, ensuring courteous and efficient dealings with the public, and compliance with policies such as WH&S, workplace diversity, and industrial democracy.
  • Supervise staff, including authorising timesheets and planning for staff movements, rostering, and leave.
  • Oversight of work depot locations, addressing WH&S, equipment, and storage issues.
  • Rapid response to public safety matters and participation in emergency incidents, such as search and rescue, vehicle accidents, or fire suppression.
  • Participation in developing annual operational, work, and strategic plans, and other agency planning activities.
  • Undertake incident management duties, including fire standby, fire hazard reduction programs, and fire training.
Eligibility/Other Requirements include:
  • Experience in incident management, including participation in fire standby, suppression, and training.
  • A degree in natural resource management or equivalent qualifications, with 5-8 years of experience, or extensive experience in a relevant field.
  • A manual driver's license.
Desirable Qualifications include:
  • Chainsaw - Trim and Crosscut.
  • Chem Cert III.
  • ATV and/or Quad Bike, 4WD.
  • First Aid or Remote Area First Aid.
  • WHS White Card.
