A key role has become available within a leading manufacturer in Melbourne's northern suburbs, focusing on supply chain management and procurement.

This pivotal position involves overseeing procurement, inbound logistics, warehousing, and materials planning to satisfy external and internal stakeholders. The Supply Chain Operations Manager will lead a team of two (Direct) and an Indirect team of eight, driving continuous improvement across the supply chain of this fast-growing organisation.

Innovation, Quality, and excellent customer service are key objectives, and the supply chain function is crucial to achieving these points of difference. The successful candidate will set strategies for achieving these objectives with a lean mindset while establishing a responsive supply chain model.

The Supply Chain Operations Manager will work closely with the Manufacturing manager for day-to-day matters related to Warehousing and inbound logistics, reporting to the General manager for strategic procurement-related matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-end responsibility for Supply Chain, including Procurement as well as inbound & logistics and warehousing, as well as Material planning and inventory controls.
  • Manage the procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, and consumables, achieving the highest level of service as per business strategy while maintaining a lean mindset across the supply chain function.
  • Handling small amounts of import orders (Inward goods and machinery), custom clearances, and associated documentation.
  • Constant liaison with sales, production, and customer service teams to ensure optimal inventory accuracy and customer service.
  • Key member of the S&OP process, attending weekly meetings and liaising with all other areas in the business to achieve the business plans on time within budgeted costs.
  • Work closely with the NPD committee to develop new products, including sourcing reliable and quality ingredients for new development and innovative concepts.
  • With hands-on experience with ERP systems, contribute to projects with IT/Finance to generate and optimize the current reporting system for best utilization of assets and resources at optimum inventory levels to achieve world-class customer service.
Requirements
  • Foody/FMCG manufacturing experience essential.
  • Purchasing and procurement experience essential.
  • Exceptional communication and administrative skills.
  • Highly organized - ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Proactive, can-do attitude - inquisitive, adaptive, and analytical.
  • High-level understanding/experience in warehouse management/inbound or outbound freight movement.
  • Critical attention to detail.
  • A strong leader with at least 5 years of team leadership experience.

The estimated salary for this role is around $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
