Job Summary

As a community capacity builder, you will play a pivotal role in empowering local communities by designing and delivering initiatives that promote inclusive growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement community capacity building initiatives aligned with national frameworks and policies.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with local organizations, government agencies, and diverse community groups.
  • Conduct community mapping to identify service gaps and opportunities.
  • Co-design initiatives with individuals with disabilities and their families.
  • Engage with priority groups including First Nations, CALD, LGBTIQA+SB, and rural/remote communities.
  • Establish project plans with measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor and report on initiative impact.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in community development and/or capacity building with measurable outcomes.
  • A strong knowledge of disability sector, ILC Policy Framework, and Partners in the Community program.
  • Proven ability to build genuine partnerships and co-design with individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience in project planning, performance measurement, and community engagement.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills.
  • High level of organizational and self-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a community-based setting.
  • Strong commitment to inclusion, diversity, and accessibility.
Qualifications & Checks:
  • Tertiary qualification in community development, social work, or related field (desirable).
  • Access to reliable transport for local travel.
  • NDIS Workers Screening Check & Working with Children's Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Undergo a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
  • Valid Australian Working Rights.
  • Lived experience of disability is highly valued.
