Job Overview

This role provides critical support to clinical staff in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring equipment and resources are available for neonatal care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean, disinfect and maintain clinical equipment used in direct neonatal care.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels of consumables and equipment in designated NICU areas.
  • Report equipment faults or breakages to the relevant personnel; tag and send faulty devices for repair.
  • Prepare admission spaces and respiratory support devices for incoming neonatal patients.
  • Maintain a clean and safe NICU environment, assisting with cleaning clinical spaces during emergencies.
  • Support urgent deliveries and collections from pathology and pharmacy departments.
  • Assist in the safe transfer of infants to other departments such as Imaging or Operating Theatres.
  • Conduct front-line equipment maintenance and ensure all essential devices are ready and available for use.
About You
  • Experience in hospital or healthcare cleaning is essential.
  • The ability to train in specialised equipment maintenance is highly desirable.
  • Awareness of infection prevention and control protocols is required.
  • The ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively is crucial.
  • Effective communication with multi-disciplinary teams is necessary.
  • Willingsness to learn infant monitoring equipment is preferred.
  • Understanding of WH&S responsibilities is mandatory.
  • Availability for rotating 7-day roster, including weekends, is required.
