About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled individual to join our team as a Pest Management Officer - Invasive Species. As part of this role, you will work closely with various stakeholders to manage invasive species across the region.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of invasive species ecology and management at a landscape scale, enabling them to deliver effective management solutions at a local level. They will also be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, ensuring seamless collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Investigating and resolving requests regarding invasive animals, nuisances, and other pest management-related matters.
  • Undertaking trapping programs for the control of restricted animals, including the administration of euthanasia drugs (sedation drugs and S7 poisons) and use of firearms.
  • Delivering baiting sessions as part of our regional baiting program for the control of wild dogs, in accordance with Queensland Health legislation.
  • Utilizing approved biological control agents and fumigants, monitoring their effectiveness, and assessing their impact on target species.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking an experienced professional who possesses:

  • Tertiary qualification in Conservation Land Management, Environmental Management, or significant relevant industry experience.
  • Able to be issued a Handling and distribution of S7 poisons (1080) endorsement via Queensland Health upon commencement.
  • Current Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control (ACDC) licence.
  • Current firearms licence.
  • Current C class driver's license.
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card).
