The Glennie School, a reputable Anglican day and boarding institution for girls from Kindergarten to Year 12 with boarding options available from Year 5, is seeking an experienced HR professional.
Reporting directly to the Principal, the People and Culture Advisor will oversee the operational aspects of the School's Human Resources function, providing expert guidance on human resource planning, recruitment and selection, induction, performance management, and workplace relations.
- Collaborate closely with Line Managers to deliver timely and effective recruitment processes for vacant positions.
- Handle employee grievances, conflicts, workplace investigations, and disciplinary actions in accordance with established procedures.
- Manage Workcover claims and incident reporting, facilitating Suitable Duties Plans and Rehabilitation/Return to Work plans as the Return to Work Coordinator.
- Provide strategic advice on industrial relations matters, including the interpretation of enterprise awards and legislation, as well as dispute resolution.
- Advise on staff classification and stay up-to-date with relevant changes to Enterprise Agreement, award conditions, legislation, and industrial relations matters.
- Review and develop, where necessary, School policies related to HR and IR matters for Senior Leadership and Council approval.
- Implement performance management systems to drive employee growth and development.
- Coach and mentor Line Managers in performance-related discussions to ensure effective execution.
- Maintain accurate records of employees, including benefits and leave entitlements, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
This role requires a dedicated individual with strong business acumen and a proven ability to positively enable employees to excel in their roles.
To be successful, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in human resources, management, or a related business discipline.
- A current Working with Children Check (blue card).
- Demonstrated experience as a HR or P&C Advisor, with exposure to various facets of the employment life cycle.
- An ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, enabling influence amongst business leaders.
- Proficiency in using HR systems, such as TASS or Martian Logic.
- A warm and friendly demeanor, with the ability to build rapport with colleagues.
- Multitasking and time management skills, meeting deadlines while working as part of a team.
- The capacity to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and demonstrate initiative.
