About This Opportunity
This is a unique chance for an experienced researcher to drive a project that aims to develop and transform experimental gene therapy vectors into a human trial-ready gene therapy.
The Dementia Research Centre is seeking an experienced and highly motivated researcher to work on a cutting-edge project that focuses on demonstrating the pre-clinical efficacy and safety profile required for advancing to first-in-human trials.
The researcher will be responsible for:
- Humanising an experimental gene therapy vector into a translational vector that meets regulatory requirements.
- Optimising processes to produce vector quantities for preclinical validation and future clinical trials.
- Performing pre-clinical vector validation in MND mouse models and target engagement in iPSC-derived CNS organoids.
- Developing new gene delivery vectors.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will undertake molecular biology experiments, administer and test gene therapies in a range of mouse models, culture and analyse cells, and analyse biological samples using biochemical and histological techniques.
Maintenance of a mouse colony to a high standard and record keeping of experiments and data are also essential.
A strong background in molecular biology and a keen interest in neuroscience are required for this position.
